Victorian-Style Lorgnette Folding Opera Glasses 14k White Gold
Genuine antique beautiful and elegant Victorian-style lorgnette in 14k white gold. Fine hand etched dia-cut pattern along the edges, and lovely filigree work on the end.
A lorgnette is a set of folding opera glasses with a spring loaded deployment latch that easily opens with the pinch of a finger. To close, simply and carefully fold down after use.
This lorgnette was brought to us by a retired ophthalmologist. It has never been used, it has been sitting in a box undiscovered for many years. Does not come with lenses installed. You may have a professional eye glass shop insert prescription lenses in the frames.
The lorgnette was designed to fit on a thin chain necklace under 1mm wide, to be worn around as a pendant. A key ring under 1mm wide may also be attached (not by us) to accommodate a thicker chain.
The latch mechanism is in excellent working condition.
Nose bridge marked 14k. Weighs 8.3 grams.
Fully opened lorgnette is about 4.9" long x 1.2" wide. Fully closed lorgnette is about 2.5" long x 1.2" wide.
Frames accommodate octagonal-shaped lenses that are about 37mm long x 30mm wide.
Never used. Will be carefully packaged for safe shipping.
