Antique estate sterling silver footed chafing dish, crafted by silversmith William Sumner in London, circa 1802.

In 1962, it was presented as an award by the New York Racing Association, at the Aqueduct Racetrack in South Ozone Park, Queens, NY, USA.

Since 1955, the New York Racing Association has operated the three largest Thoroughbred horse racing tracks in the state of New York in the United States.

The underside of the lid is engraved with the following: “New York Racing Association, The Matron, Aqueduct 1962, won by Mrs. Russell L Reinemans, Smart Deb”.

Marks are initials WS, Lion Facing Left, Crowned Leopard, G, King George III. These marks indicate that the chafing dish was made in London, England circa 1802 by silversmith William Sumner.

Total weight is 1,478.0 grams.

Chafing dish is about 14.5″ long x 8″ wide x 7.5″ tall.

Comes with original burner, but has not been tested for functionality.

Does not come with a water pan.

Excellent estate condition. Gently pre-owned.
